Now, the total area of modern greenhouses and simple greenhouses in Beijing is 145 thousand mu, which increased over 90 thousand mu compared with 54.3 thousand mu in 1995. This shows that the policy for promoting Beijing facility agricultural development has reached the goal and farmers have increased their income since 2006. The facility agriculture has become the main industry form for Beijing developing modern agriculture.

In 2006 the proportion that facility agriculture used in vegetables, edible fungus production accounted for 84.5% of total. Melons and fruits accounted for 12.6%. Flowers and seedlings accounted for 2.9%. Vegetables were the main production crops and lead the industry for facility agriculture. Vegetables expanded from 30 traditional varieties to more than 200 varieties, at present.

According to statistics, Beijing facilities were located in 4,587 fields in 174 townships in 14 districts and counties.

Today, facility vegetables, flowers, and fruit trees have become the mainstay of facility agriculture production. According to statistics, the facility income of flowers reached 42,000 yuan per Mu, fruits reached 9,700 yuan per Mu, greenhouse vegetables reached 9,500 yuan per Mu and simple greenhouse vegetables reached 5,500 yuan per Mu.
