The concept is Wilderness in the City. The garden reflects the relationship between built form and nature – the strong shapes in the grid reflecting the city and the areas of planting in between representing nature. There are three pools of water in corten steel boxes, four cubes of clipped planting representing the controlled planting of the city, a path of very narrow pieces of grey stone – placed on their sides so you see the narrow side leads to a small seating area (3sqm), and arches made of timber painted black. The planting should look and feel wild, to contrast with the grid.
